Language settings

Group owners can specify the default language in which the group's website and notifications are displayed. This setting applies to the accounts of people who are entirely new to Groups.io at the time they join the group—that is, people who, before joining this group, had not joined any other group at that email address. If an owner changes the default language setting for a group, that change does not affect the setting of existing individual members. For more information, see Default language, time, and date display settings for group members in the Owners Manual.

Individual group members can set their own language preference in their Groups.io accounts. This setting applies to all the groups a member belongs to at that email address; members cannot set different language preferences for different groups they belong to. If a group owner changes a group's default language, that change does not affect the setting in existing group members' individual accounts.
